Shatta Wale x Adidas
In 2016, Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale, allegedly signed a $1.5 million three-year contract with the sports design and manufacturing company, Adidas. Shatta Wale was tagged to be the company’s brand ambassador for their ‘adIdas’ product when a firestorm ensued after he was sporting an ‘adIdas’ sweatsuit many deemed was fake. According to sources, the company’s sales manager explained the decision as follows: “Shatta Wale has boosted our sales for days now, therefore, the company has signed him to be part of their ambassadors”. There was no official confirmation from Shatta or Adidas.
