Flag of the Democratic Republic of Congo: This colorful flag of the DRC was officially adopted in February 2006 and exclusively premised on the design of the former flag of King Leopold II, the second king of the Belgians’ Association Internationale Africaine in 1877, a humanitarian organisation aimed at fostering development in Central Africa. The outstanding shade of royal blue represents peace and stability; red stands for the sacrifice of the country’s martyrs during the fight for independence, yellow represents wealth, and the star is an expression of hope for the future.
