In this episode of The Breakdown, we examine how the United States moved from a fragmented former colony to a global superpower and ask whether Africa now stands at a similar threshold. We take a look at how American leaders consolidated federal power, protected domestic industry and scaled production before global wars shifted the balance of power. It argues that Africa today holds comparable advantages, including abundant resources and a rapidly growing population, yet remains constrained by fragmentation and limited industrial coordination. The central question is whether African leadership will pursue deeper economic integration and strategic industrialization in time to shape the next global order.
