After brutal assault by white man, 12-yr-old Congolese girl in Texas needs heart transplant

On April 19, a 12-year-old  girl was walking to school. A man who would be later identified as Terry Wayne King, II, 36 approached the girl asking for help. As she offered her assistance, King proceeded to grab and choke the girl.

The incident caused the 12-year-old harm to her internal organs. She is now in need of a heart transplant.

Fort Worth Police Detective Pat Henz stated, “She’s a fighter; she’s a survivor”. “I think her faith, the faith that her family has given her, the support that she has had is what kept us going on this case. She was an inspiration to find a [resolution] to this case.”

The girl, whose name has not been released is under the guidance of her father, Twizere Buhinga.

“The man who tried to kill my little girl, they have him now,” Buhinga proclaimed during a press conference at the Fort Worth’s police training center on July 18.

Buhinga emigrated to the United States from the Democratic Republic of Congo less than two years ago. The Buhinga family consists of his wife, daughter and five sons.

“A bad guy came to my daughter and attacked her,” “He touched my daughter and said he needed help. My daughter said she was going to school and what help do you need. He caught her by the arm and dragged her down to the ground and choked her,” recalled Buhinga.

As of now, King is being held in an Oklahoma jail.  King, a resident of Fort Worth, is being held on fugitive charges.

King has a lengthy criminal record.  His job as a truck driver may have given him access and ability to commit similar crimes. Law enforcement is still investigating the possibility of additional incidents.
