A judge has ordered former Bachelorette star Rachel Lindsay to pay $13,257 monthly in spousal support to her ex-husband Bryan Abasolo. Per PEOPLE, the decision by the judge comes after Abasolo, 44, asked the court to order his ex-wife to pay him monthly spousal support.
The judge ultimately ruled in favor of Abasolo during the former couple’s divorce proceedings on July 10. The pair virtually appeared in court for the proceedings, and Lindsay, 39, had objected to paying Abasolo spousal support.
Documents obtained by the news outlet stated that the judge ordered Lindsay to pay her ex “temporary spousal support of $13,257 per month.” The documents also stated that the 39-year-old was ordered to start making those payments on July 15 – though an end date was not highlighted.
Besides the spousal support, Lindsay was ordered to pay an additional $20,000 to cover Abasolo’s legal fees. The deadline for that payment is September 3.
Lindsay and Abasolo were married for four years before he filed for divorce on the grounds of irreconcilable differences. Abasolo filed for divorce on January 2, and the former couple, who married in 2019, have since had disagreements over their relationship and how the filing was made.
Lindsay in a June 26 filing had claimed that Abasolo texted to inform her about the divorce filing after they “had a conversation in my kitchen during which he failed to mention that he had filed.”
“Approximately 30 minutes after he left the house, he sent me a text message that simply read ‘Hey … I just wanted to let you know that I officially filed,'” she alleged, per PEOPLE. Lindsay also said she received that news with shock.
But Abasolo claimed that was not the case and shared text messages they exchanged. He also claimed his ex was neither “surprised” nor “shocked” over the news of his divorce filing.
Abasolo in a May 1 filing initially asked the court to order Lindsay to pay him spousal support as well as $75,000 in emergency financial support for his legal expenses. He also claimed that he earned $16,000 annually.
But Lindsay claimed Abasolo did not provide accurate details about his annual income, adding that he’s also “not in need” of spousal support because he has the “ability and opportunity to generate income” that “enable him to support himself.”
Lindsay additionally claimed that the minimum wage in Los Angeles showed that what her ex claimed to be his annual income was “less than he would [earn] if he worked at McDonalds.” She also claimed she has been “paying for virtually all of Bryan’s expenses, including those expenses associated with her house, which he refuses to vacate” after they parted ways on December 31, 2023.
But Abasolo reiterated that he needed spousal support. He initially asked the court to order Lindsay to pay him $16,275 monthly to keep up with their “marital standard of living.” The former couple is scheduled to appear in court for a mandatory settlement conference in September.
