NBA legend, Michael Jordan, has acquired the very rare Hennessey Venom F5 Roadster, capable of getting up to 300mph. This was made public by the makers of the supreme vehicle, Hennessey Performance, after posting a picture on social media showing Jordan posing near what could be his new car.
“Today was a special day,” the post read. “Such an honor to build a special Venom F5 for a special friend.”
The Mailonline reports that Jordan owns one of the world’s 30 Venom F5s, which reportedly has an enormous 1,600 horsepower and reportedly cost $ 5 million.
Jordan has maintained a keen interest in cars; he recently purchased a NASCAR team with Denny Hamlin, as a minority partner.
“Growing up in North Carolina, my parents would take my brothers, sisters, and me to races, and I’ve been a NASCAR fan my whole life,” Jordan said in a news release. “The opportunity to own my own racing team in partnership with my friend, Denny Hamlin, and to have Bubba Wallace driving for us, is very exciting for me.”
He continued, “Historically, NASCAR has struggled with diversity and there have been few Black owners. The timing seemed perfect as NASCAR is evolving and embracing social change more and more.
“In addition to the recent commitment and donations I have made to combat systemic racism, I see this as a chance to educate a new audience and open more opportunities for Black people in racing.”
Jordan is one of the richest black people in the world, with an estimated net worth of $2 billion, according to Forbes. He makes a chunk of his money from his over 36-year partnership with Nike. The deal alone earned him $1.3 billion.
The basketball legend also has other streams of income, including his stake in the Charlotte Hornets, a professional basketball franchise in Charlotte, North Carolina, and a minor stake in DraftKings.
