Jim Robinson

Also known as “Sweet Jimmy”, the retired American boxer from Miami is remembered for fighting Muhammad Ali (then still called Cassius Clay) in Miami Beach on February 7, 1961, as a last-minute replacement for Willie Gullatt. Ali won by knockout at 1:34 of the first round. Robinson fought for seven more years before he retired and had an interview in 1979 with Sports Illustrated writer/photographer Michael Brennan. Since then, his whereabouts have been unknown. In 2009 when an ESPN writer teamed up with an autograph collector to search for every single one of Ali’s 50 opponents, Robinson was the only one they couldn’t find.
