The World Cup is here again and the football stars are gathered in Russia to make their countries proud.

Not all the footballers were stars until recently. Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus is trending on social media for a, now viral, picture he posted last year of him in 2014 painting the streets of Rio de Janeiro ahead of the 2014 World Cup hosted by Brazil.

The 21-year-old young Manchester City striker, who made his World Cup debut for Brazil on Sunday against Switzerland, was then playing for Brazilian club Palmeiras in the Sao Paulo U-17 championships.

In the photo, which recently gained attention, Jesus is barefoot on the streets with a paintbrush painting the sidewalks and ramps in the Brazilian colours.

There are a few other players like Gabriel Jesus who are making their World Cup debut in Russia as stars but were nobodies some 5 years ago. They include Senegal’s Ismaila Sarr, Egyptian Mahmoud Abdel-Moneim Soliman, Denmark’s Pione Sisto and Panama’s Michael Murillo.
