 April 8, 1946 – BET founder, Bob Johnson, was born.

April 8, 1974 – Henry Aaron hit a 4th inning pitch off the Los Angeles Dodgers’ Al Downing to achieve his 715th home run, breaking Babe Ruth’s legendary record of 714 homers to become the all-time leading hitter of home runs.

 April 8, 1993 – Opera singer, Marian Anderson, passes away.
