Pastor Evan Henry, 34, and Markeitah Henry, 36, were the first couple to marry on The Tamron Hall Show’s first in-studio wedding. Tamron Hall, the host, performed the ceremony herself.

Evan told People, “The experience was phenomenal. My wife looked beautiful. The set looked beautiful. The cake was delicious. Everything exceeded our expectations. Tamron took this seriously and officiated with such honor and sincerity. We are truly grateful to every single person who played a role in bringing this to life.”

“I’m still on cloud nine,” his wife, Markeitah, remarked. “Having our family and friends witness it all… it was absolutely divine. Knowing we touched so many people in such a short amount of time speaks to the essence of who we are: grateful.”

The couple first met at church in 2015. Evan was teaching a class, and the two became close friends over time. Their relationship did not become romantic until several years later, around 2023.

“Evan was always willing to help whenever I needed a hand, and that reliability turned into something more,” Markeitah, who works as a creative designer and ministry leader, explained.

By 2024, Evan, who is a taekwondo grandmaster, business owner and pastor, was certain that she was the woman he wanted to live with forever. He proposed at a photo shoot at Six Flags, kicking off their next chapter together.

Early in April, Markeitah came upon a video on Instagram, which marked the beginning of their incredible day. Hall advertised a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for couples to marry on her show. Along with saying “I do” in front of a live studio audience, the chosen couple would also wear a custom gown created by Randy Fenoli, star of Say Yes to the Dress, with tailoring done by the renowned Kleinfeld Bridal.

“Honestly, I had already considered the Tamron Hall Show an unofficial part of my bridal era. I’d been to three tapings: two with my maids of honor and one with Evan,” she recounted. “Seeing the announcement just felt like divine timing. And the bonus of wearing a Randy Fenoli original? That was the cherry on top: I’ve been a fan of Say Yes to the Dress for years!”

So, with Evan’s full support, Markeitah sent their story to the show’s online application system.

After that, they received the unexpected announcement that they were chosen for the wedding in the studio—an unforgettable experience.

“We were driving at the time and I almost crashed!” Evan recalled. “She opened her email and screamed so loud I had to pull the car over. Once she calmed down, I read the email and was shocked. I couldn’t believe we were actually chosen.”

“‘Excited’ may be an understatement. I was completely overwhelmed. Joy, surprise, anticipation, all of it hit me at once,” Markeitah said. “I couldn’t believe our story had made such an impact.”

With the help of famous event planner Jung Lee, the Tamron Hall Show stage was totally remodeled into a charming wedding setting. Rich white and yellow flowers and vivid greenery decorated the room, creating an inviting ambiance for the couple’s special day.

“This is an honor I don’t take lightly,” Hall told People. “I’ve officiated a few weddings but nothing like this. What a beautiful love story. I shared with them that I was raised by my stepfather who became the most amazing father in the world to me. So to have this couple, a blended family, find love and find a way forward proves that there’s no one definition of family. I am over the moon!”

Hall led the ceremony wearing a golden satin gown with long sleeves and a cowl collar.

Evan appeared in a white suit jacket, black slacks, and black dress shoes. Markeitah also drew attention with the gorgeous “Heather” gown from Randy Fenoli Bridal, a figure-flattering, flowy dress with a semi-sheer back and magnificent beading.

“I couldn’t believe I was getting to live out such a dream,” Markeitah expressed. “I’ve watched Say Yes to the Dress for years, and what I love most about Randy is how he makes all women feel beautiful, whether you’re a size 2 or a 22. His designs truly make you feel stunning.”

During the event, soul singer and actor MAJOR made an appearance and sang his popular song “Why I Love You” as the bride walked down the aisle.

“I was just happy a dream came true for her. She deserved it,” Evan said, thinking back on the moment.
