Lincoln Alexander

Born in 1922, Alexander was a Canadian lawyer who became the first black Member of Parliament in Canadian history. He was also the first black federal Cabinet Minister, serving as federal Minister of Labour as well as the 24th Lieutenant Governor of Ontario from 1985 to 1991.

The cabinet minister and war veteran later served as chancellor of the University of Guelph for 16 years. He died at the age of 90 in 2012.
