She told Dimtse Woyane television, “I was not convinced at all when I was told I had conceived.”
A relative added, “Nothing is impossible to the Holy Saviour.”
The remarkable birth has been described as a miracle, particularly in a region still recovering from years of violence and displacement.
Many others have reacted on social media, citing biblical parallels to Sarah, who gave birth to Isaac at the age of 90.
Dimtse Woyane posted a video from the child’s baptism, which showed a festive celebration.
There is currently no medical report available. But according to social media reports cited by Borkena, Medhin gave birth naturally and didn’t require a cesarean section.
Nonetheless, there has been some uncertainty about Medhin’s motherhood status. While some accounts mention that this is her first child, others say she has other adult children.
Since 2020, Tigray has been embroiled in terrible violence, with persistent territorial conflicts, internal instability, and a humanitarian crisis that has displaced or forced millions to flee.
In light of this, many people have found inspiration and a rare moment of joy in Medhin’s narrative.
Many people in the area are in awe of what they perceive to be an amazing and divine event.
