NFL star Xavier Worthy of the Kansas City Chiefs was arrested on a charge of assault against a family or household member by impeding breathing or circulation on Friday.
According to reports, the Chiefs wide receiver could face up to 10 years in prison should he be found guilty of the charges against him.
Worthy, who is entering the second season of a four-year, $13 million rookie deal was still behind bars and denied bail as of Saturday morning.

The specifics with regard to his arrest are yet to be released publicly as Texas police and Williamson County’s district attorney continue to probe the situation.
Worthy at 21 is already engaged after proposing to track star Tia Jones last year in July.
Since then, the couple has revealed they purchased a house together in Williamson County, Texas, though it remains unclear if that’s where the alleged incident took place on Friday.
In 2024, Worthy was a first-round pick of the Chiefs before catching 59 passes for 638 yards and six touchdowns as a rookie.
Also, he had a touchdown catch in the AFC Championship win over the Buffalo Bills and two more in a Super Bowl defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Chiefs spokespeople have revealed that the team is ‘aware’ of the arrest and is now ‘gathering information’, as per Daily Mail.
This is now the second straight offseason in which a Chiefs receiver has got himself in Texas legal trouble.
In March 2024, Rashee Rice was speeding in a Lamborghini Urus on Dallas-area highways when he and associates driving other cars were involved in a hit-and-run crash.
Viral videos later showed Rice fleeing the scene on foot.
A WFAA report revealed that police found 10.8 grams of marijuana in the Lamborghini, which is a Class B misdemeanor in Texas.
Though the situation looked worrying, a civil lawsuit and a separate assault charge were later dropped as Rice faced no NFL punishment in 2024.
