‘I’m dead serious.’- Dr. Dre eyes Olympic gold in Archery for 2028 games

Dr. Dre, the iconic raper and music producer is gearing up to make history at the 2028 Olympics in the USA, shifting his focus from the stage to the archery range.

After delivering a show-stopping performance with Snoop Dogg at the closing ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics, Dre has set his sights on a new challenge: not only continuing his musical legacy but also competing for a spot on the Olympic podium, representing Team USA in archery.

In an exclusive interview with ET’s Nischelle Turner, Dre revealed his unexpected passion for archery and his determination to compete in the next Olympics, marking his debut in the sport.

“I’m dead serious about trying out for the Olympics in 2028—in archery,” Dre said. “I actually started playing around with archery in junior high. I stopped for a while, but my son got me set up again. I’m not sure if it was for my birthday or Father’s Day, but I set it up in my backyard. I heard that qualifying for the Olympics is at 77 feet, and I practice at 90 feet.”

With the 2028 Games being held in Los Angeles, Dre added, “Wouldn’t that be interesting, especially with it being here in LA? I feel like I can do anything.”

At the Paris 2024 Olympics, Team USA secured only two medals in archery—a silver and a bronze. Should Dre prepare adequately for the task ahead, he could be a game-changer for the team in Los Angeles.

Dre also shared his thoughts on the breakdancing events at the Paris Olympics, expressing disappointment with Australian Olympian Rachael Gunn’s viral performance.

“I did not like that. There are so many great breakdancers out there—I don’t know why they chose that particular person. It was funny, I got some laughs, but what the f—? There are incredible breakdancers out right now. I don’t know how that happened,” he commented.

As he eyes the 2028 Olympics, Dre is focused on staying injury-free and honing his skills to fulfill this new ambition.
