There is a growing interest in the religions practised in Africa before the introduction of Christianity and Islam. Many feel that mainstream religious practices keep individuals in mental bondage, rather than allowing for free thought. This is precisely why some have decided to go back to the practices of their elders and ancestors, unapologetically.
Certainly, African religion has negative connotations. Nevertheless, traditional religions in Africa are another part of the culture that little light is shed upon.
