Nigerians develop online triage tools

In a conversation with Techpoint Africa, Dr. Femi Kuti, personnel with a private health insurance firm in Nigeria, said his company has “noticed a significant increase in the number of people using our ‘chat with a doctor’ feature.”

This is what experts call telemedicine, a modern feature to healthcare where people who cannot be in the presence of a health professional access virtual means of diagnosis and treatment.

Nigeria, since it recorded its first case of the coronavirus, has seen the development of online triage tools used by inhabitants of Africa’s most populous country to gauge their health in this pandemic.

The demand for telemedicine consultation has caused massive development and redevelopment of the essential online tools in Nigeria that experts agree can be helpful in combating the coronavirus.
