Jacksonville African American Heritage Trail

This trail in the state of Florida will take guests through a number of vital African American sites and expose them to notable black people who inhabited the state since the 1500s.

Guests will learn about the composers of America’s Black National Anthem; visit the beach, part of which was bought by Florida’s first black millionaire; take a tour of the oldest house in the state, dating back to 1798;  and visit the city’s black suburbs that thrived in the 1930s.
