Alain Locke

Alain Locke was, according to Martin Luther King, Jr. himself, a philosopher. Locke is described as the most notable ideological mastermind behind the Harlem Renaissance.

He was a teacher, social critic and author.

Of his sexuality, Frances Sellers notes that Locke was gay. However, Locke did not disclose this because he felt it would be used against him.
