An 18-year-old Florida teenager Lawan Jr. Jones has been charged with the murder of his girlfriend’s father following a heated argument over “inappropriate” social media posts.
According to a Daily Mail report, Lawan Jr. Jones,18, turned himself in to authorities three days after fleeing the scene of the fatal shooting on Monday, according to police.
The victim, Keith Poole, 44, was shot multiple times outside his Pompano Beach home in front of his three children, witnesses reported.

Jones, who had been dating Poole’s daughter, Jessie, was living with the Poole family at the time. The dispute reportedly began after Poole confronted Jones about social media posts showing him holding a firearm.
According to an arrest affidavit obtained by DailyMail.com, Poole told Jones that such behavior was unacceptable while living under his roof and demanded that he move out. Witnesses told police that Jones became enraged, threatening to have his friends “take care of the problem.”
Poole again insisted that Jones leave his house, guiding him to the front door. A witness said that Jones walked away, then turned back, drew a handgun from a satchel, and shot Poole in the face and chest. The affidavit further noted that Poole was not aggressive and posed no physical threat to Jones.
Officers, after arriving at the scene, found blood inside and outside the home, the affidavit stated.
Jones’ social media accounts reportedly feature some posts about his relationship with Jessie, including photos from a December 2023 vacation and a recent trip to Beachwood, Ohio, with one post showing a heart drawn in the snow with the initials “L + J.”
In the wake of Poole’s death, friends and family have shared tributes, describing him as a devoted father and beloved community member.
“The way you raised and cared for your children was unmatched. You always made sure those around you were taken care of,” one loved one said. “Your presence spoke volumes.”
Another who shared their tribute called Poole “a true legend in Miami” and said, “You were kind to all of us, and we shared great memories. You will be truly missed. Now, you are a star in the universe, shining forever.”
A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to support Poole’s family during this difficult time.
Meanwhile, Jones’ legal team has filed a demand for discovery and requested a jury trial as they prepare to fight the charges.
