Florida woman calls Burger King worker the N-word because of thick tomato: police

Authorities in Wildwood, Florida, have charged a White 77-year-old woman with a felony after she allegedly threw a sandwich at a Black Burger King employee and hurled racial slurs at her because the tomato in her meal was too thick.

According to the arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department, the incident occurred at a Burger King restaurant in the city on Friday, Village News reported. The suspect, identified as Judith Ann Black, allegedly went up to the Black employee at the counter to register her displeasure with her sandwich.

During the confrontation, Black, who was allegedly yelling, was told by the employee to calm down so she could properly assist her. But when the victim turned away, Black allegedly threw the Whopper burger she was holding at her, striking the employee in the back.

Black, who is reportedly from Texas, also verbally abused the Black employee and hurled racial slurs at her, according to reports. “Shut up you black b*tch,” she allegedly told the Black worker. Besides that, the report also states she allegedly called the victim a “stupid black b*tch” as well as a “black n****r.” She also told her, “f*ck you black n****rs.”

The Black employee’s colleague, as well as the restaurant manager and an independent customer, confirmed the incident to the police, Village News reported. The victim’s account of the incident to the police was also verified by video footage that was reviewed. Black was subsequently tracked and arrested after another employee shared the license plate of the vehicle she was in to authorities.

When Black was asked about the incident, she said she got angry because the tomato on her sandwich was too thick, leading her to confront the victim at the counter. She also admitted she “tossed” the burger at the Black employee and called her a “stupid black b*tch.” She claimed her anger stemmed from the victim “not fixing the issue.”

For insulting the victim and hurling racial slurs at her, the report stated the battery charge had been enhanced “from a misdemeanor of the first degree to a felony of the third degree” under a Florida State Statute.

Black, who was held at the Sumter County Detention Center, was later released after meeting her $2,500 bail condition.
