Authorities in Florida on Sunday arrested former NFL star Antonio Brown over his alleged failure to pay child support. According to USA TODAY, the 35-year-old was later released on a $15,000 bond after he was taken into custody.
Brown’s arrest comes after Wiltrice Jackson, the mother of his eldest daughter, told TMZ that the former wide receiver had failed to pay over $30,000 in child support. Jackson also called for Brown’s arrest over the way he had treated her and their daughter.
“I do want him arrested,” she said. “Because, right now, he’s making a mockery out of the judge, out of everything, because he feels like he’s untouchable.”
Pascal Michel, who is Jackson’s lawyer, also said his client wants the 35-year-old to be more active in their daughter’s life. Jackson said more than 80 colleges have shown interest in their daughter because of her talent as a track and field athlete.
“By him having a daughter like an athlete like her, you would think he’d be in her corner to support her,” Jackson told TMZ.
This also isn’t the first time Brown has made the headlines for all the wrong reasons as he has been slapped with lawsuits and criticized for certain comments he has made and decisions he has taken.
In May last year, a video showed him exposing himself to a woman in a pool at a hotel in the United Arab Emirates. In October 2022, he was ordered to pay $170,000 to a plaintiff for allegedly selling a fake watch, USA TODAY reported.
