Georgia teen working two jobs gets accepted into 53 colleges with $1.5 million in scholarships

Madiysen Kuykendall maintains a 4.0 GPA, ranks in the top 10% of her class, serves as class president, and still works two jobs.

According to ABC10, the high school senior has been accepted into 53 colleges with $1.5 million in scholarships, from the University of Michigan, Howard University, Xavier University, and Spelman College, among many others.

The 17-year-old plays volleyball at her Fairburn, Georgia’s Langston Hughes High School as well.

Kuykendall said she “felt in awe” when she received her college acceptance letters. “That was my goal at the beginning of the school year. I did want to have $1 million in scholarships.”

Kuykendall’s top school choices include Spelman College and Howard University, but her options are endless! 

Her mother, Quianna Kuykendall, told the publication, “It has been an amazing ride, and as a mom, I’ve just been riding the wave with her… It’s an amazing feeling.  I wouldn’t trade this phase right now for the world.  I’m excited to see her go on this journey, I’m there every step of the way.”

The outstanding student intends to major in biology on a pre-medicine track to become a pediatric surgeon. According to her, she wants to open her own clinic to assist children. 

She advised other students who are currently applying to college, saying, “The stars are not the limit; you can go as far as you can go. Set a goal, but just remember you can always exceed that goal.”
