Tyrone William Griffin Jr., better known by his stage name Ty Dolla $ign, made a costly financial error. Thankfully, the 42-year-old musician recovered from having unintentionally transmitted half a million dollars in cryptocurrency to the wrong address.
The “Zaddy” rapper revealed on X on Monday that he had invested 500,000 dollars in the blockchain platform SunDog, only to realize his fatal mistake the next day.
He asked, “Yo, where my $SUNDOG at? I sent it to my TRX address and it ain’t showing???”
The official SunDog account immediately replied, saying, “Ser… did you really just burn your bag? You sent it to the contract address” and tagged SunDog creator Justin Sun at the end for help.
The rapper responded, “So it’s gone?? What am I supposed to do now?”
In a fortunate turn of events, Justin soon jumped in and remedied the situation, sending Ty $500K TRX to “get back in the game.”
To which Ty replied, “You a real one for this. Putting that RIGHT BACK into SUNDOG.”
According to the Cryptolitan, Ty Dolla $ign recently showed interest in meme coins on X.
He wrote, “What’s up with all these memecoins, tho?” He added that he had been hearing about them everywhere and wanted to know if it was all hype or if people were making money from it.
At the time of publication on Tuesday, the outlet reported that SUNDOG, a meme coin built on TRON, had a $255 million market capitalization.
Since August when the coin hit its lowest point ever, it has increased by more than 500%.
