The virtual 78th Golden Globes happened over the weekend and although the current pandemic brought about a more laid-back event, most of the celebrities still brought us red carpet glam from their homes.
Although the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) has come under attack for their lack of diversity on the nominations and voting panel, Black Hollywood still showed up for the event with some wins for those fortunate to have been nominated.
Chadwick Boseman took home a posthumous award for his lead role in “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.” Daniel Kaluuya also won best supporting actor for his performance as the Black Panther leader Fred Hampton in “Judas and the Black Messiah.”
John Boyega won best supporting actor in a TV series for his role as a police officer in Amazon’s “Small Axe” and Andra Day beat Viola Davis, who served red carpet goals with her Globes Ankara gown, for the best actress in a drama for “The United States vs. Billie Holiday.”
Knowing that audiences will be waiting to savor their outfits, the celebs did not come to play even to a virtual ceremony.
