Rapper Kanye West has dispelled speculations he has bipolar but has admitted he has “signs of autism” from a car accident. He reportedly disclosed this in leaked text messages he sent to X CEO Elon Musk. The 46-year-old artist, whose recent gig was canceled in Italy amid protests by war veterans, asked social media influencer Ian Connor to share the text message screenshots reportedly sent to the 52-year-old X (formerly Twitter) CEO.
West, banned from the X platform in December 2022, sought to explain his condition in a lengthy message and seemingly pleaded for reinstatement. He indicated that “I’m not bipolar,” in the leaked text message. “I have signs of autism from my car accident.”
West was reportedly referring to his car accident in 2002 when he dozed off while driving his rented Lexus, resulting in a severe jaw injury. It is public knowledge that he has talked about in his music. West also opened up about his personal matters, hinting at his relationship with ex-wife Kim Kardashian, who currently has primary custody of their four children, according to the Daily Mail.
“You can’t watch Kim keep my kids from me. And not say anything publicly and then call yourself my friend so I can bring my audience to your struggling platform,” West said in the leaked text.
The 42-year-old reality star Kardashian filed for divorce from West in February 2021. The former couple share four children: North (10), Psalm (4), Saint (7), and Chicago (5).
West, known for his song “Blood On The Leaves,” asked Tesla CEO Elon Musk when they can have a conversation, emphasizing that he doesn’t expect a meeting but suggests that if they do meet, the dynamics of their relationship must change.
Connor, 30, initiated the conversation by sharing screenshots of messages from West, who urged him to make the information public. Last year, West’s Twitter account was suspended after he posted an image combining a swastika and a Star of David.
West’s controversial post followed an interview with conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, during which he expressed controversial sentiments, including his admiration for Nazis and Adolf Hitler.
West and Musk have maintained a long-standing friendship, having been seen together with filmmaker George Lucas at the TIME 100 Gala in April 2015. They were also pictured hanging out at Musk’s home in July 2020, as captured by Musk’s then-girlfriend, musical artist Grimes.
