Idris Elba is nothing short of amazing from his role in Beast of No Nation to his role in the HBO Series The Wire. He is a truly talented actor. Now Elba is collaborating with John Ridley, creator of American Crime, to tell a powerful love story that takes place in the United Kingdom during a very tumultuous time in their history. This love story is about a couple “whose relationship and values are tested when they liberate a political prisoner and form a radical underground cell in 1970s London.”

The limited six-part series entitled Guerrilla will debut in 2017 on cable network Showtime in the US,. and Sky Atlantic in the UK.

“It’s been a long time desire of mine to collaborate with Mr. Ridley and his work here is nothing short of a masterclass in character building and story-telling,” said Elba.

Sometimes we are lead to believe that race is only an issue in the United States, but this movie will give us a glimpse into the black power movement in the U.K.
