Jo-Ann Livey Van Wyk was diagnosed with HIV at the age of 17 while she was still at school, and this naturally changed her life forever. She faced some of the worst stigmatisation in Namibia but was able to beat that to become the youngest mayor in Namibia at the age of 26, bringing on board a huge housing project that benefits some of the poorest families in the town.
