Authorities in Canada said they have launched an investigation after another trespasser attempted to gain access to Drake’s Toronto mansion last Thursday, NBC News reported. Authorities said the trespasser was later taken to the hospital after being confronted by security guards at the home.
This recent incident comes a day after a different intruder was arrested after trying to break into the rapper’s sprawling Toronto property, Face2Face Africa initially reported. “Officers were called after a person attempted to gain access to the property,” the Toronto Police Service said in response to the first trespassing incident. “The person was apprehended under the mental health act and taken to get medical assistance.”
The two trespassing incidents were also preceded by a shooting incident at the First Person Shooter rapper’s mansion. A security guard who was stationed outside his house was left critically injured after being shot by yet-to-be-identified suspects. The shooting happened last Tuesday.
Per CNN, Toronto Police Inspector Paul Krawczyk at a press conference said police responded to the home in the early hours of Tuesday. Krawczyk did not confirm whether or not Drake was at home when the shooting happened. An investigation into the shooting has since been launched, and Krawczyk said the rapper’s team is cooperating with authorities.
A police source who spoke with CBC News also said previous reports indicate the shooting was a drive-by. And though Krawczyk said a vehicle was linked to the incident, he did not confirm if it was a drive-by shooting.
The shooting also comes amidst an ongoing feud between Drake and fellow rapper Kendrick Lamar. The pair have exchanged diss tracks over the last few weeks. Krawczyk said authorities were yet to establish the motive behind the shooting when he was asked if the incident was linked to their feud, CNN reported.
Krawczyk said multiple suspects were linked to the shooting, adding that they drove away in the wake of the incident. He said a video of the shooting is being reviewed by authorities.
