Authorities in Delaware arrested and charged two suspects in connection with the discovery of drugs and guns at a home daycare after police executed a search warrant. According to PEOPLE, the drugs that were recovered included cocaine and heroin.
The suspects, identified as Cameron Christmas, 33, and Jessica Cooper, 29, were subsequently arrested on drugs and firearms charges. In a statement, the Dover Police Department said the raid came after its Drugs Vice and Organized Crime Unit conducted a drug investigation of a home on 118 Roosevelt Avenue in Dover.
Authorities said they later determined the home also served as a daycare center by the name, The Little Peoples LFCC 2. Police said they were ultimately granted a search warrant for the daycare and executed it on January 11.
The statement said the detectives who conducted the raid recovered 93.1 grams of cocaine, 26.4 grams of crack, 302 bags of heroin, 2 handguns, and $32,262 in cash. Christmas and Cooper, who were said to be the operators of the daycare, were taken into custody without incident, authorities said. The suspects were later processed and arraigned after they were taken to the Dover Police Department.
Authorities also said there were four children in the daycare when the search warrant was executed, adding that the minors were eventually returned to their guardians. The charges brought against Christmas and Cooper include possession of drug paraphernalia, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm, and endangering the welfare of a child.
