Authorities in Canada responded to Drake’s mansion again after an intruder attempted to break into the rapper’s sprawling Toronto property. Per Complex, authorities in a statement said the suspect who attempted to break into the home was apprehended.
“Officers were called after a person attempted to gain access to the property,” the Toronto Police Service said in an email to the news outlet. “The person was apprehended under the mental health act and taken to get medical assistance.”
Authorities did not provide further details about the suspect. The Wednesday incident comes a day after a man identified as Drake’s security guard was left seriously injured after he was shot outside the rapper’s mansion, Face2Face Africa reported.
Per CNN, Toronto Police Inspector Paul Krawczyk at a press conference said police responded to the home in the early hours of Tuesday. Authorities said the security guard in question was stationed outside the For All the Dogs rapper’s gate when he was shot. He was admitted to the hospital while his condition was listed as serious at the time of the report.
Krawczyk did not confirm whether or not Drake was at home when the shooting happened. An investigation into the shooting has since been launched, and Krawczyk said the rapper’s team is cooperating with authorities.
A police source who spoke with CBC News also said previous reports indicate the shooting was a drive-by. And though Krawczyk said a vehicle was linked to the incident, he did not confirm if it was a drive-by shooting.
The shooting also comes amidst an ongoing feud between Drake and fellow rapper Kendrick Lamar. The pair have exchanged diss tracks over the last few weeks. Krawczyk said authorities were yet to establish the motive behind the shooting when he was asked if the incident was linked to their feud, CNN reported.
Krawczyk said multiple suspects were linked to the shooting, adding that they drove away in the wake of the incident. He said a video of the shooting is being reviewed by authorities.
