Jason Derulo had to go to the hospital after a fitness-tracking smart ring he was wearing caused his finger to swell. Known as the Oura ring, the device, which is made with titanium, is used by celebrities including Prince Harry and Kim Kardashian, per PEOPLE.

But it appeared Derulo’s experience with the device after purchasing it wasn’t a good one as the singer was unable to remove it from his finger. In an Instagram post on Tuesday, the 33-year-old announced he had bought the ring – but with a weary face emoji.

In the video, the Swalla singer is seen raising his right hand from a champagne bucket containing ice. “Woke up, finger was swollen, it’s turning colors,” he says as his friend is seen laughing at his predicament.

“I was like, damn. Trying to figure out how to take this damn ring off,” he adds. “It just got swollen overnight. I tried to take it off with oil.” And though the singer also said the swelling “came down a little” bit after icing it, a gym session he subsequently had made the finger “swell up even more so.”

The video later shows an individual trying to remove the ring after spraying it. That, however, also doesn’t work. “We’re going to the hospital, and we will cut it off,” the medical team at the singer’s residence tells him.

The video subsequently shows Derulo at the hospital as a medical team attends to his swollen finger. The team is seen attempting to cut the ring, with one of them telling the singer that “it will take one or two minutes.”

But after an hour, the singer stated that the ring was “not off yet.” It also appeared the effort to cut the ring from Derulo’s swollen finger was an uncomfortable one for him as he was heard reacting in pain.

The singer was, however, later relieved after the ring was eventually cut off from his swollen finger. “Thank you guys!” Derulo is heard telling the medical team. He also shows his gratitude by giving them fist-bumps.
