Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James and his son, Bronny, have been slapped with a lawsuit over a car crash that happened on a highway in 2022. Per TMZ, the lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles County on Tuesday – the same day the pair made history on the court.

The crash is said to have occurred in Littlerock, California on November 13, 2022. The plaintiffs, identified as April Almanza Lopez and Kiara Rae McGillen, claim they were riding in a car when they were hit by LeBron, 39, and his son.

The plaintiffs said the crash left them with injuries that need additional medical care. They also claim their car’s value plummeted as a result of the damages it sustained from the crash. Lopez and McGillen are seeking unspecified damages.

The lawsuit was filed on the day LeBron and Bronny played their first regular season NBA game together. The duo and their Los Angeles Lakers teammates faced off against the Minnesota Timberwolves in their season-opening game at the Crypto.com Arena.

The Lakers started the season on a good note with a 110-103 win over the Timberwolves, and LeBron ended the game with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Bronny, on the other hand, recorded a rebound and no points after playing for three minutes.

“That moment, us being at the scorer’s table together and checking in together, it’s a moment I’m never going to forget,” LeBron said after the Lakers’ win. “No matter how old I get, no matter how my memory may fade as I get older or whatever, I will never forget that moment.”

Bronny also touched on his mindset leading up to the game. “(I) tried not to focus on everything that’s going on around me, and tried to focus on going in as a rookie and not trying to mess up,” Bronny said. “But yeah, I totally did feel the energy, and I appreciate Laker Nation for showing the support for me and my dad.”
