Poem: At Our Best, We Love

love

From my experiences in rural community-based projects and historical studies and seeing how people have selflessly sacrificed so much for others, I’ve discovered that in spite of all human odds, everyone has at one time felt something worth living for and loved someone worth dying for. Humans are created with emotions — even though some try to kill or suppress theirs. Either way, we can’t deny its reality. How dignitaries , celebrities, commoners , the rich and poor all lend their voices in the #BringBackOurGirls campaign is an indication that in spite of our different races and classes, we share something in common: We are a species of love….

Love Species
It’s beyond physical attraction…
It’s beyond emotional affection…
It’s beyond probabilistic methods…
It greatly surpasses humanistic odds.

It’s a soldier willing to die for his nation…
A wealthy man willing to give away his possessions…
A young fellow defending his town…
A king willing to lay down his crown…
A mum travailing in great child labour pain…
Diligent nurses patiently waiting to clean up blood stains.

Smiles on the faces of newly wedded couples…african love
Having patiently waited, remaining hopeful…
The joy on the faces of kids in orphanage homes…
Because someone cared enough to donate a part of what he owns…
A single mum working hard to give her kids the best education…
A public school teacher teaching pupils with maximum dedication…
Celebrities relating with their fans….
Wives faithful to their husbands (and vice versa)…
Nations uniting in response to an urgent need…
Finally ending the era of suppression and greed.

Irrespective of our different social views…
We would all agree on one thing that’s true…
We feel it…
We give it…
We receive it…
It’s what makes the human race…
It’s not a sentence nor a phrase…
It’s a verb with four letters…
Its L.O.V.E and it Matters…
