Lupita Nyong’o never ceases to amaze. As if being a talented filmmaker and multiple award winning actress was not enough, the Oscar award winning actress recently showed the world her rhyming skills.

As of late, she has taken bold steps in raising awareness for many controversial issues related to inequality, including racial discrimination of award distributions and the gender pay gap.

She has, through her style, also carried the African image to greater heights.

What most people didn’t know about Lupita is that she has a funny and lyrical persona that she rarely shows off.

She recently took to her Facebook and Instagram pages and posted a 55-second long video of herself ‘spitting’ a hilarious freestyle rap, while introducing her alter ego “Troublemaker”.

As if this video wasn’t funny enough, her lyrics were off the charts with some pretty clever lines!

Check out some of the lyrics below:

“Mexican-Born, Kenya runnin’ through my veins. Dark chocolate plus I keep a sharp mane…”

“…Disney on the books, so you know I stay paid. Next stop Katwe, rocking out with David. Don’t do critics – if you’re hating, please save it”

“Ambassador for elephants, tryna’ save the planet, I’m working on my master plan, stuntin’ in a hammock…”

“…speak 4 languages… hit em’ with my autograph – ‘poof’ I’m vanished”

The impeccable ‘swag’ with which she delivered the entire performance makes it seem as if she has been rapping for years!

While we’re still awestruck by her beautiful style and numerous talents, we have to also commend her for the courage and humor that she displayed in her rap debut. We can only wonder if Lupita or her alter ego, ‘Troublemaker’, will be putting out more freestyles anytime soon or in the near future.

Who knows, maybe even a collaboration with some of the hip-hop’s best artists such as Nas or Kendrick Lamar may be on the way.

Regardless of how her rap career pans out, one thing is for sure – Lupita is certainly giving rappers a run for their money with this one!
