McDonald’s worker shot over cold french fries

A McDonald’s employee is fighting for his life after a female customer’s son shot him in the neck during a dispute over cold french fries.

According to New York Post, the suspect, identified as 20-year-old Michael Morgan, went to the fast-food store at 1531 Fulton St. in Bedford-Stuyvesant on Monday after his mother got into a dispute with the employee.

A Police source said Matthew Jeremiah Webb, 23, was on duty at the restaurant when Morgan’s mother raised complaints to him about the fries that she had been served. Morgan and his mother were also said to be Facetiming at the time she was engaged in the argument with Webb. The dispute caused Morgan to head over to the restaurant, the source claimed.

“The mom complained that her fries were cold,’’ said the police source. “The mom was on FaceTime with her son, and he heard the dispute between her and the clerk. The son and the clerk got into a dispute inside, and it went outside.”

Authorities said Morgan, who was armed during the altercation, ended up shooting Webb in the neck. The 20-year-old suspect was arrested not too long after the incident. He has since been charged with attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

Authorities also said Morgan’s girlfriend, identified as 18-year-old Camellia Dunlap, allegedly gave her partner the gun he used to shoot Webb. She has been charged with two counts of criminal possession of a firearm, New York Post reported.

Morgan, on Wednesday, also admitted to shooting and killing another individual in a separate incident in October 2020. Police said he has been charged with murder and possession of a loaded firearm for that incident.

As of Wednesday, police said Webb’s condition at the Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center was still listed as critical. But Morgan’s mother told the news outlet that her son came to the restaurant to defend her after the employees at the establishment took issue with her protests over the cold french fries.

“My son is just saying that he gotta do what he gotta do and the [victim] came after him and whatever happened, happened,’’ she said.
