Chariah Gordon has crafted her own captivating NFL narrative. While the Kansas City Chiefs chase history with a bid for three consecutive Super Bowl victories, this football WAG has been making headlines in her own right.
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Gordon, fiancée of Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman Jr., shared her play-by-play experiences as part of the NFL family.
From giving birth on Super Bowl Sunday to “breaking the Internet” with a major pop star, Gordon’s story has captivated fans.
She first caught the public’s attention in February 2023 during Super Bowl LVII by becoming one of the most followed storylines alongside the showdown between Travis and Jason Kelce.
“My water fully broke. That was the morning of the Super Bowl,” Gordon told PEOPLE, recalling the “chaos” that ensued thereafter from the hotel room to the hospital in the host city of Glendale, Ariz. “It was a Super Bowl baby along with a win!” she said proudly.
The couple’s firstborn son was named Mecole III after his father, who got “permission” from the Chiefs to support Gordon in labor. Showing up for each other is a reciprocated gesture between the athlete and Gordon, who said she was “making it a point” to go to every game this season.
“The last two years… I’ve been pregnant,” she said of why she didn’t have perfect attendance at games in the past, as they welcomed their second child, a baby girl, in April 2024.
She even has plans to bring her little ones to a few games this season, too, “…before it gets really cold,” she clarified.
Gordon views game days as a break from the constant demands of motherhood, but her time in the star-studded suite isn’t always stress-free. She admits to feeling extremely nervous whenever her fiancé, Chiefs wide receiver Hardman Jr., has the ball, constantly hoping for his safety.
Gordon and Hardman Jr. started communicating at the end of 2019, but their love story became more serious after the Chiefs’ loss in the 2021 Super Bowl.
“Honestly, this was the real start of our relationship,” revealed Gordon, who relocated from her native Chicago to Kansas City. “We’ve been inseparable ever since,” she said, adding, “I think that however I comforted him, it made him feel like, ‘Okay, she could be my woman.'”
Being a three-time Super Bowl winner can be mentally taxing, and Gordon understands the pressures her fiancé, Hardman Jr., faces in his career.
She explained her role in supporting him, stating, “I definitely just try to stay in his ear and keep him motivated and keep him inspired.”
“You speak everything you want into existence,” explained Gordon, who calls herself “intuitive” due to the self-described “Pisces power” she possesses. “We both got some type of special magic going on!”
The losses make the victories even sweeter for the Chiefs, who are off to an impressive 7-0 start this season, marking the third time in franchise history they’ve achieved this feat following back-to-back Super Bowl wins.
Gordon noted that the excitement is quite different when she and her fellow Chiefs WAGs cheer for their partners during games, saying, “It looks like a party because we are always celebrating.”
Last year’s NFL season was filled with memorable moments, culminating in a triumphant ending for Gordon and the Chiefs when Hardman Jr. caught the game-winning touchdown pass from quarterback Patrick Mahomes in the Super Bowl.
Earlier that season, Gordon also drew attention when she posted a PDA-filled photo on Instagram with Travis Kelce and his girlfriend Taylor Swift, capturing the interest of a new audience of football fans during their budding romance in October 2023.
