Johnnie Reid’s athletic journey proves that strength doesn’t always come with age. According to Black News, she started racing years ago in the hallways of Clewiston High School, setting records in the 100-yard sprint that are still in place today.

However, her groundbreaking achievements didn’t stop there. In 2023, at the age of 60, she set a record in the 60-meter event at the USA Track and Field Masters Championship, finishing in 8.49 seconds.

She also earned a name for herself as the top-ranked athlete in the world for the 50 and 100 meters, as well as the No.1 ranked athlete in the USA for Shot Put in the senior category.

Reid works in the office of the Collier County State Attorney at the moment, but she loves to work out after work.

She breaks records while enthusiastically representing Collier County, Naples.

Reid previously told WSVN that starting strong is an important part of any race. She’s been honing it for the last decade.

“They never taught us how to come out of the blocks, how to explode how to drive, and now with technology, with YouTube and everything, I got my families helping me out, then I go on YouTube and that’s the only reason I was able to execute everything the way I did,” Reid said.

She wants people to be inspired by her life’s story.

She encouraged, “If I can do it, you can. Just put the work in and don’t stop.”
