Robert Lee “Bobby” Satcher Jr.

Born on September 22, 1965, Satcher Jr. is an American physician, chemical engineer and NASA astronaut.

During STS-129, Satcher Jr. became the first orthopedic surgeon in space. 

He participated in two spacewalks during STS-129, accumulating 12hours 19 minutes of EVA time.

A holder of two doctorates—Ph.D. and M.D.— Satcher is a recipient of numerous awards and honors as a surgeon and engineer.
