Kwame Onwuachi is a Nigerian-American chef based in the US. In 2012, he enrolled at the Culinary Institute of America in New York and eventually worked as a cook at Eleven Madison Park.

Onwuachi, 30, was a contestant on Season 13 of Top Chef. This year he was named by the Food & Wine magazine as one its Best New Chefs.

According to Time, he learned to be truthful with his food at a very young age, at a pivotal point in his career. That’s what sets him and his Washington, D.C., restaurant, Kith and Kin, apart: his decision to say, “This is the food I should do. This is the message I want to put out there in the world”.

Colicchio, head judge on Top Chef, said the restaurant world is changing and Onwuachi is one of the leading figures in the industry.
