Rihanna was not at this year’s Met Gala but she was not forgotten as The Metropolitan Museum of Art unveiled a marble statue in her honor.
The singer has been serving some of the most memorable looks at the Met Gala red carpet but she was not able to attend this year’s event because of her pregnancy with boyfriend A$AP Rocky. The Fenty Beauty mogul posted a glimpse of her statue on social media. The artwork shows her flaunting her baby bump.
“Shut down the met in marble! what’s more gilded than that? Lol! Thank you for this historic tribute! y’all bad for this one,” she wrote on Twitter.
The statue is inspired by Rihanna’s May 2022 cover shoot for Vogue magazine. The 34-year-old billionaire is believed to be weeks away from giving birth. The Diamonds singer debuted her baby bump in January in New York City while she was photographed together with her rapper boyfriend, A$AP Rocky.
She told Vogue magazine last month that she decided not to shop for maternity clothes when she realized she was pregnant. “When I found out I was pregnant, I thought to myself, there’s no way I’m going to go shopping in no maternity aisle. I’m sorry—it’s too much fun to get dressed up. I’m not going to let that part disappear because my body is changing,” said the Barbadian singer, who covers Vogue’s May 2022 issue in a red lace Alaïa catsuit and matching gloves.
Rihanna believes that pregnancy should not be hidden as she continues to redefine maternity style.
