Michelle Obama has announced an Instagram TV series aimed at inspiring college students, especially in their first year.

Titled “A Year of Firsts”, the series will follow the life of four college students, who will share their highs and lows of their first year experiences, in order to inspire other new students.

The IGTV series is in six episodes and it is scheduled to premiere later January and will end in June. The series is being produced in partnership with media company ATTN:.

The new series is a part of Obama’s Reach Higher initiative on higher education that she spearheaded as first lady.

“By sharing their stories, they’re helping others see that the ups and downs of the first year of college are something everyone goes through — and they’re creating a supportive community for others facing similar challenges,” the former first lady said in a statement.

According to her, the four students have “overcome tremendous odds to get where they are,” and will candidly share their experiences with viewers.

The statement said the students will “explore issues like the academic stress of college, making new friends, college affordability, and the physical and mental health while in college.”

The Obamas have been engaged in some post-presidency projects including a production deal with Netflix. Mrs. Obama’s first memoir Becoming which was released November 2018 sold more than 11.5 million units across print, digital and audio formats and it was one of the bestselling books for 2019.
