MyAngel Ross is a star on the Lithia Springs High School flag football squad. The senior just signed a Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deal, making history as the school’s first student-athlete to do so.
Her efforts on and off the field earned Ross the contract.
She scored seven touchdowns for the Lithia Springs Lions last season while playing safety and wide receiver.
The Alternative Careers in Sports Academy (ACSA), which assists young athletes with career and financial planning, is the organization behind the NIL deal.
Ross’s attention and discipline, according to CEO Roderick Liptrot, set her apart.
“She’s opening the door for other students to see what’s possible,” he told 11Alive.
Athletic Director Mikey Jones stated, “She’s worked so hard, and this is well-deserved.”
Her entire school gathered to celebrate her achievement on Tuesday, March 25. Former coach Kendra Pleasants and Principal Felicia Jones praised Ross’s leadership and dedication.
NIL deals for high school players were first permitted by the Georgia High School Association in 2022.
While students can profit from their name or image, regulations prohibit them from joining collectives or clubs associated with NIL arrangements.
Ross expressed her gratitude to her teammates, coaches, and family for their support.
