Nigerians fume over death of pupils in collapsed Lagos building that houses a school

I’m extremely saddened by the news of the collapsed building in Itafaaji area of Lagos. It touches one to lose precious lives in any kind of mishap, particularly those so young and tender. May God grant everyone affected by this sad incident fortitude and succour.

The collapsed Lagos Island building had been marked for demolition & occupants asked to relocate last year.

Months later, the occupants came back, demolition mark erased, someone has been settled.

Now, the building collapsed, killing innocent school pupils.

HARD TRUTH: Building Collapse WILL continue in Lagos Island UNTIL Govt takes these building standards seriously or to a 'very large extent' & 'developers' must be highly cautioned irrespective of "who u know".

Lagos Government collects all manner of taxes you can think of from developers; running into millions of Naira, but no real quality control. No one cares about site safety.

Lagos State Government approved 3 storeys.

Years later, building owner added a "penthouse" above the top floor.

Nigerians are lawless, but also disdainful of assessing potentially dangerous consequences.
