Hallie Morgan claims her tenants, Caitlin Poore and Kathleen Kennedy, sabotaged her two-story home by damaging toilet pipes and flooding the property just a week into their lease before vanishing without notice.
Now, Morgan is taking legal action and sharing her ordeal with the world in a nearly seven-minute TikTok video posted on February 19.
Morgan and her husband Ainsley have taken legal action against their former tenants, filing a complaint in Guilford County Superior Court on February 21. The lawsuit accuses Poore and Kennedy of breach of contract, intentional property damage, trespassing, and emotional distress.
The Morgans are seeking compensation for repairs, lost rental income, and legal fees.
“Our home wasn’t just a rental property—it was a place filled with memories, where we brought our children home from the hospital, and where we planned for our family’s future, Hallie told PEOPLE. “This has been an incredibly difficult experience, but we are remaining strong and trusting that justice will be served.”
Efforts to reach Poore and Kennedy have been unsuccessful, as they appear to have deleted their social media accounts.
When their employers were contacted, they had this to say.
DHL, where Kennedy works, shared a statement citing its employee code of conduct: “At DHL Supply Chain, respect is the cornerstone of our code of conduct. We reject all forms of discrimination and intimidating behavior among our associates and promote a culture of tolerance, honesty, and integrity. We are committed to investigating this matter thoroughly and taking the appropriate action as guided by our policies.”
Atrium Health said that Poore “is still going through the pre-employment process and has not started their role with our organization. We take these allegations very seriously and are actively investigating.”
The complaint alleges that Poore and Kennedy moved in on February 9 but were immediately unhappy with aspects of the rental unit.

“When they moved in, they were informed that there were some paint touch-ups that needed to be completed in the kitchen just due to the removal of the popcorn ceiling,” Hallie says in the video. “They were unhappy that this didn’t happen in the expected timeline, but did express just how grateful they were with my husband’s overall communication, especially because they had a bad experience with a landlord in the past.”
Morgan claims in her TikTok video that her tenants, Poore and Kennedy, made excessive demands, including a request to fix a toilet clogged with “their own human feces.”
The Morgans complied but reminded the tenants that breaking their lease would mean forfeiting rent and their security deposit. Hallie alleges this warning led to verbal abuse from the tenants.
“They proceeded to use racial slurs, including the N-word at my husband,” Hallie claims. Following the unsettling altercation, Ainsley decided to do a home inspection on Friday, February 14, as a quality check of their property. The home was up to par on this visit, however, the following Monday, February 17, Hallie received a call from two neighboring units and the Homeowners Association that water was coming into their homes and flooding the street and parking lot.
Per the complaint, one of the neighbors allegedly told Hallie that Poore and Kennedy seemingly moved out on Saturday morning with a “number of individuals” in “what appeared to be a rushed manner.”
Hallie and Ainsley said they arrived at their property only to find extensive and shocking damage.
“As we’re pulling up there’s water covering the parking lot. There’s water on the outside of our house, water surrounding the property, coming out of the side paneling. The fire alarm is going off,” Hallie said. “We open the door and there’s water everywhere. The first and second level is completely covered with water, seeping through everything. Basically the ceiling is caving in.”
According to the complaint, the local fire department arrived and informed the homeowners that the tenants allegedly unscrewed the toilet and intentionally damaged the pipes. “We saw both of the pipes on both toilets were destroyed,” added Hallie. “They completely destroyed our home to the point that it is uninhabitable.”
Hallie told PEOPLE that when she reached out to the tenants about the flooding, they allegedly refused to discuss the damage and only offered to return the keys.
Hallie called the flooding “an act of pure evil” and has filed a police report and contacted the tenant’s employers. “It’s in moments like these when I’m reminded while God is real demons are too because this is nothing but demonic behavior,” she added.
Hallie’s original post on the situation has garnered over 2.3 million views on Tiktok.
