Sudan’s presidential and parliamentary elections

For Sudanese, 2020’s presidential and parliamentary elections present an opportunity to step into a new era. Omar al-Bashir‘s topple from power is already viewed as a victory of popular will.

The party of the former ruler has been dissolved but it would be a mistake to think this is a total dissipation of al-Bashir’s holdover in Sudan. The secularists and progressives who led the protests of 2018 will remember this.
