Popular Houston producer and rapper BeatKing passed away on Thursday at the age of 39. Per Billboard, the news of BeatKing’s death was shared by his manager Tasha Felder in an Instagram post on Thursday.
“Today, Aug. 15, 2024, we have lost @Clubgodzilla [BeatKing],” Felder shared. “BeatKing has been the best part of the club for over a decade. He has produced and worked with so many artists that his sound will forever live. He loved his daughters, his music, and his fans. We will love him forever.”
The deceased producer and rapper, born Justin Riley, was said to be an influential figure in Houston’s underground music scene, and his songs were very popular among club-goers. Some of his hit songs include Then Leave and Scream.
BeatKing wasn’t just known in Houston as he collaborated with fellow artists outside the city. He worked with mainstream artists including 2 Chainz, Moneybagg Yo, and Erica Banks.
The deceased 39-year-old entertainer is survived by his daughters. The cause of his death was, however, not disclosed at the time of this report.
Veteran Texas rapper Bun B and several fans paid tribute to BeatKing after his passing was announced. “It’s always the good ones. Damn this sh** hurt. Just a great spirited person. We lost a talented artist and father. Prayer for @talameshia and his loved ones. RIP @clubgodzilla,” Bun B shared.
“Damn ? one of the first artist I was put on when I moved to Tx. Sad day. RIP,” a fan commented. “Wow, gone too soon and damn talented. Praying for his family. #htownlegend,” another fan wrote.
“We need people like Beat King foreverrrrrrrrr this one hurt! Praying for you and everyone who ever came in contact with him infectious positive energy that will last a life time. Thank you King ?????????,” another fan said.
