Job rules

In some African countries, women do not have the same choice of jobs as men. They are not allowed to work in different sectors because the law considers these jobs as unsuitable for them.

In Guinea, however, the man is allowed to have a say in his wife’s job selection. In the Civil Code, the man can easily object to a woman’s choice of work if it is separate from her husbands.  Although the law allows the woman to challenge this if it is not in line with the needs of the family, that the man has such power over her is already sexist.
