Remarriage rules

Remarriage of a divorced or widowed woman should be a personal choice, but in Mali, the law guides when such a woman should remarry.

In its Code of Persons and Family, a divorced woman should marry at least three months after the finalisation of a divorce and a widowed woman can only remarry after four months and 10 days after the death of her husband.  A pregnant widow is allowed to remarry after childbirth.

There are no such laws for men in Mali.
