How this woman’s tax company grossed $1.5 million in just three months

Dr. Shawanda S. Moore founded Royal Financial Services and serves as its CEO. She is passionate about financial services, including Individual Tax Preparation, Business Tax Preparation, Business Coaching, Growth Analysis and Strategies for finances, Financial Literacy, and more, according to blackbusiness.com.

Moore was running her tax firm with her son, Shaun Moore, who was unfortunately killed in New Orleans on September 29, 2020, following a violent incident. He was only 21. Moore initially wanted to give up everything because her son was not only a business partner but also made her feel like the best mother in the world, she told blacknews.com. Despite being heavy with grief, Moore decided to complete her son’s unfinished goals in order to help keep his memory alive.

Affectionately called The Tax Doctor, Moore has single-handedly worked and coached her team to their most successful year. She achieved this success by implementing new strategies, procedures, and policies to reflect growth in the company, the entrepreneur and business coach told blackbusiness.com.

According to the outlet, her tax firm grossed $1.5 million in three months. Moore has also guided her software partners to grow their tax business and has more than 10 of her tax software partners gross twice the amount from the previous year around this same time.

Besides coaching, she is an author. She has authored books like “Introduction to Tax Preparation”, “The Tax Doctor Saves Christmas”, “Budgeting and Saving with the Tax Doctor”, “Starting a Business with the Tax Doctor”, and “Small Business Records.” Her first book “Introduction to Tax Preparation” was launched in August 2021 to help people understand the tax process and start their own tax businesses. Moore ordered 200 books and all sold out within just a few days.

The author and entrepreneur also sells her own software to people joining the tax industry including direct coaching and training and is currently accepting new software partners who would wish to start their own businesses.

According to blackbusiness.com, Moore is giving 30% of the money from the sale of her books towards a scholarship fund started by her company last year. The scholarship fund is to support high school students in transitioning to college or starting their own businesses.

So far, the scholarship fund has helped two students buy books and supplies. Moore is also known for her charity work in her community including Thanksgiving Food Baskets, Christmas Toys Giveaway with kid activities, Youth Seminars, Stop the Violence Rallies, and School Supplies/ Uniform Giveaways.

In October, she announced that she was working on creating a financial literacy curriculum that will include entrepreneurship skills “to assist middle school and high school students to prepare for the real world.”
