Elon Musk, the billionaire CEO of X has lauded Vice President Kamala Harris for surpassing ‘people’s expectations’ during her debate with former President Donald Trump on September 10.
Despite acknowledging Harris’ performance at the debate, Musk reaffirmed his support for Trump in the upcoming 2024 presidential race, as per a Business Insider report.
While I don’t think the debate hosts were fair to @realDonaldTrump, @KamalaHarris exceeded most people’s expectations tonight.

That said, when it comes to getting things done, not just saying nice-sounding words, I strongly believe that Trump will do a far better job.

“While I don’t think the debate hosts were fair to @realDonaldTrump, @KamalaHarris exceeded most people’s expectations tonight,” Musk posted on X following the debate.
Musk, who is a strong supporter of Trump, emphasized that Harris’ performance was impressive yet it would not sway his endorsement of the former president. “That said, when it comes to getting things done, not just saying nice-sounding words, I strongly believe that Trump will do a far better job,” Musk continued.
He also questioned why Harris, as vice president, had not already made more progress on the initiatives she discussed during the debate. “The question comes down to this: Do you want current trends to continue for four more years, or do you want change?” Musk wrote.
During the debate, Harris maintained her composure and stayed focused on her messages, often engaging with Trump and eyeing him as her gaze was presented on the split-screen. Trump however avoided direct eye contact with Harris and grew visibly frustrated when she successfully baited him into a debate over the size of his rally crowds.
Musk, who in 2022 suggested that Trump should “sail into the sunset,” has since become a prominent backer of the former president. His shift came after an assassination attempt on Trump during a 2023 rally in Pennsylvania, after which Musk began regularly posting pro-Trump content on X.
In August, Musk hosted Trump for a live-streamed discussion on X, where they covered topics ranging from immigration to the assassination attempt. During the conversation, Musk expressed interest in serving on a government efficiency commission if Trump were re-elected. “I think it would be great to have a commission to ensure taxpayers’ money is spent wisely, and I’d be happy to help out,” Musk said. Trump responded positively, saying, “I’d love it.”
Despite their differences in the past, Musk’s public alignment with Trump continues to strengthen, and he will be hoping that Trump edges Harris to become president once more after the 2024 election.
